As a PG-rated Robin might cry, "Holy crap, Batman!"

New Moon smashed The Dark Knight's single-day and opening-day box-office records with an estimated $72.7 million Friday, its studio reported today.

If the movie's unprecedented midnight business was "absolutely freakish," then its unprecedented full-day take was simply phenomenal.

"It doubled the opening day of the first movie—and Twilight was no slouch itself," Box Office Mojo's Brandon Gray said. "It's just sensational."

With New Moon having already eclipsed its $50 million budget, two of Dark Knight's showiest records, and Twilight's entire opening-weekend gross, about the only question left is: How big can this thing get?

Cougar Town fans will have to wait to see if 40-year-old Jules Cobb can lock down a younger man. 

Production on the divorcee-laden comedy has been suspended to allow the show's star, Courteney Cox, time to tend to a family matter, E! News has confirmed.

An ABC rep confirmed the show's suspension, saying in a statement: "We can confirm production on Cougar Town has been temporarily shut down in order for Courteney to deal with a private family matter." 

No further details have been released on the nature of the issue.

Happy New Moon weekend, everyone! We gotta hand it to Rob, Kristen and Taylor, they all worked so hard over the past month to promote their little vampire movie, which culminated last night in a three-way (pre-taped) interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Now they can all go back to their normal lives. For Taylor that means pumping iron and practicing back flips all day, while Rob and Kristen lurk around the shadows of Chateau Marmont.

But before we say goodbye to the gang until they resurface for Eclipse this summer, we thought we'd put together our favorite moments from the past week's talk show appearances. (And there were a lot of them—Ellen, Conan, Leno, Letterman, Jimmy Fallon, Today, Regis and Kelly.)

Usually they’re met with the same questions: Did you ever expect this to be so big? How is this movie different from the last? OMG, fans are so crazy, right? They scream so much! How did you bulk up to play Jacob Black? Are you dating Kristen? What do you think of your Barbie? Will you throw this football? (Both Taylor and Kristen had to do that, btw.)

Still, there were some fun moments to be had and we've compiled them all right here just in case you fell asleep while Taylor talked about his workout regime for the 13th time.

Janet Jackson may be about to answer the musical question, "What Have You Done for Me Lately?" A source who caught Jackson rehearsing Friday for her upcoming American Music Awards performance says the "Nasty" singer appears poised for a major comeback.

"Even though Janet was marking most of the dance moves today, the choreography is obviously very complicated, and she knew it all by heart," says the eyewitness. "She looked really strong and at ease onstage."

The singer is expected to perform her new song, "Make Me," to kick off Sunday's AMAs. We're guessing some of her routine may be cribbed from her new video for the song (see above), which features a vintage Janet vibe, including space-age shoulder pads and countless hat-tips to brother Michael.

Before everyone and his mother had a daytime talk show, there was Oprah Winfrey.

And the news that in less than two years there won't be an Oprah Winfrey Show as we know it has prompted an outpouring of well wishes and appreciations from those whose stars have shined a little brighter thanks to Oprah's warm glow.

"I am going to enjoy every episode between now and 2011," offered Food Network star turned syndicated talk-show host Rachael Ray, who waited until Oprah had discussed the matter "one-on-one" with her audience today to comment.

"Oprah opened the door for me to move into daytime television and I can't thank her enough. I look forward to seeing what she does next…there will only ever be one Oprah!"

Hell, even Dr. Phil McGraw knows who first put him on the map.

Who would have thought Fergie of all people could make a multi-color animal print dress look fierce?

No offense to the singer, but she doesn't always set the fashion bar very high. We would have expected her to go overboard with the matching spotted jacket, as shown on Blumarine's runway?and maybe some bizarre footwear.

Instead, she took fashion cues from Nicky Hilton and Rachel Weisz' more understated style and downplayed the '80s print with a black blazer and trendy zipper Balmain booties.

Kate Major, the former Star reporter who was involved with Jon Gosselin, is attempting to sue him. 

Back in June, Jon and Kate allegedly reached an "agreement" that she would work for him as his personal assistant. Kate claims Jon told her that she would earn a percentage from his accounts. Reportedly she quit her job under the assumption that she would be able to take this job. 

I don't know what kind of duties a personal assistant for Jon Gosselin would have to perform, but I assume it would involve several trips to the Ed Hardy store. This alleged "contract" was written on a cocktail napkin after some sort of weekend they spent together. 

I actually sort of feel sorry for Jon Gosselin. I promised to hire Chuy on a Del Taco wrapper at 3 a.m. after a magical weekend together at Sea World, and I haven't been able to get rid of him since.
